Shore-Perched Modern Homes

Prentiss + Balance + Wickline Design the Tongass Ledge

Prentiss + Balance + Wickline designed the Tongass Ledge and it rests on top of a rocky cliff that overlooks a scene of water known as the Tongass Narrows. It is designed for a client that lives in both Alaska and Seattle. The house is made up of two volumes with an angled design and it is made to look over the Alaskan shore.

There are two framed glasses that extend from the structure and between these two volumes in a connecting space with an entryway and an outdoor deck. The outside is made up of materials including wood that slides, black metal, and concrete -- the wood continues to the interior design as well.
