London industrial designer Tej Chauhan collaborated with Lexus and streetwear and athleisure designer John Elliot to create Sole of the UX, a unique tire design that takes inspiration from the iconic Nike Air Force 1 sneaker style. For the project, Chauhan was tasked with putting an artistic spin on a set of tires for the first-of-its-kind crossover vehicle from Lexus, the 2019 UX.
Inspired by footwear, Sole of the UX imagines the tires of the Lexus car as a pair of shoes, complete with Nike's signature logo and sneaker-like details. As well as featuring swirls and waves that pay tribute to the original sneaker style, the tire also includes a metal air valve that is comparable to the metal lace tip on the Nike Air Force 1.
The stylish Sole of the UX was unveiled at this year's New York Fashion Week.
