In his photography series entitled Soldiers' Inventories, Thom Atkinson shows us the military kit of soldiers throughout the ages.
Soldiers' Inventories collects military kits of soldiers across 13 different wars, starting in 1244 with the Siege of Jerusalem and ending in 2014 with the War in Afghanistan. Throughout Thom Atkinson's series, we see the evolution of warfare, from simple swords and shields, to antique flintlock pistols, and modern assault rifles. While Soldiers' Inventories is an impressive historical collection, one can't help but feel confronted and saddened by the seemingly endless wars the have plagued humanity when it's presented in such a way.
Soliders' Inventories is an incredibly impressive series, one can only imagine how long it took Thom Atkinson to create it.
