The New Mags Flagship is Informed by Classic Libraries
Elena Rahman — October 19, 2021 — Art & Design
Norm Architects designed the New Mags flagship bookstore in Copenhagen. The shop is informed by classic library designs and features stone plinths and pivoting wooden walls. The Danish studio looked at classic library features, such as the extensive wooden shelving and long study tables equipped with library lamps to inspire New Mags' new location.
Located in a newbuild in the inner city of Copenhagen, the bookstore boasts 100 square meters. The architects transformed it into an easily manageable space to function as an office for the brand's marketing department and an inviting bookstore for customers. A cast-concrete floor was made to match the building's exterior facade to create a sense of cohesion for all visitors as they enter and exit the store.
