This Side Table with a Handle Was Inspired By Antique Candlesticks

It really does look as though this coffee table with a handle is a magnified version of an old candle holder. Modelled off of those antique candlesticks made from brass, this piece of furniture comes equipped with a ring-shaped attachment that's much like the single finger grip on a low-tech wax illuminator.
The reason behind Ola Giertz's design decision was to produce a piece of furniture that's almost as mobile as a lit wick. Now, more than ever, people like their homes to be as adaptable as possible, so to accommodate everything from freelance work and play, to leisure, eating and entertaining. With this in mind, a table with a handle is ideal as a movable surface, constructed from warm wood and carved with a dish-like upturned edges.
