Crawling Dynamic Coffee Tables

Gillam de Carpentier Designs the WoodenCarpentopod Table

Gillam de Carpentier designed the Carpentopod, which is a unique coffee table structure that has 12 crawling legs at the base. It is crafted with wooden materials and works as a semi-automated table that brings items to you. It moves with the 12 legs that are sections in four groups -- each leg does a third fo the walk cycle on the base and links together from laminated bamboo for a precise connection.

Overall, there were over a hundred bamboo pieces that were used and each one was sanded and lacquered. The Carpentopod is a mechanical design with brushless motors that are integrated into automated curtain products and electronics. The non-wooden areas are hidden inside a hollow section for a clean look.
