Victorinox's New Swiss Army Knit Celebrates a Unique Metal

Victorinox's Swiss Army imprint recently announced the special milestone that was the 13th Damast edition of the Picknicker pocket Swiss Army knife design. This also marks the 13th year that the brand is launching a knife that has Damasteel's unique metal material.

The limited edition Picknicker is made from pearwood by the handle -- it hides functions such as a cheese knife, a bottle opener, wire stripper, a screwdriver, corkscrew, and a can opener as well. Notably, the main blade is designed with the Damast 'Baldur' pattern, which is 115 layers of durable stainless steel with a 60 HRC hardness grade. This is how the design gets its namesake as it is referenced after the Norse god of light and purity.
