Magnets are a magical natural material, and Japanese design studio We+ is playing off of the allure of the forceful metal with the Swarm collection. The group of items, which we unveiled at Milan design week, are all covered in a dusting of steel slivers that group randomly around the core framework of the piece in question, creating a fascinating appearance that's both rough and sophisticated.
There are five total pieces in the Swarm collection. Four of those are vases: two shorter orb-like pieces and two taller, narrow cylindrical ones. The most striking piece in the collection as a whole, though, is the chair. The entirety of the Swarm chair's seat and back are covered in the steel slivers, and they're offset by the pristine, smooth metal of the legs.
