The classic game of chess has been given a full steampunk-inspired makeover with this retro-futuristic chess board and set by Olde World Custom Creations .
Made by hand, this red oak chess board features .50 caliber gun shells that have been cut, bent and curled to represent each different game piece. Individual chambers to store the pieces have been bored into the sides, and the board itself is decorated with steampunk-inspired clock gears, typewriter parts and intricate wood burning details.
This particular chess set is actually just one example of the many 19th century science fiction creations done by Olde World Custom Creations. Because each chess set is handcrafted, no one board is exactly alike and additional design flourishes, artwork and parts can be customized to make each game board unique and truly one-of-a-kind.
