Elegant Glacier-Inspired Metro Stations

Zaha Hadid & A-lab Team Up to Design Two Stations in Oslo

Two stations in Oslo — a part of the city's brand new metro line, are being designed by London-based studio Zaha Hadid Architects and local firm A-Lab. The architectural firms won a competition for this opportunity.

For the design, inspiration is drawn from the wintery Norwegian landscape. Both the Fornbuporten and Fornebu Senter carry characteristics that are glacier-like. In addition, the two stations in Oslo boast a somewhat futuristic silhouette, given the forward-thinking approach of Zaha Hadid Architects and A-Lab.

Fornebu Senter station will boast "canyon-like forms" that will "guide the flow of people in and out." Fornbuporten, on the other hand, will have ample room for public activity and will feature reflective surfaces that are reminiscent of northern lights.
