Bitmoji, the two-dimensional avatars beloved across generations, have now take on a more three-dimensional existence thanks to new features for Bitmoji on Snapchat. Through the picture-sharing app, users can project their Bitmoji into the real world, watching through their phone screens as the characters go through animated motions.
Bitmoji on Snapchat operate through augmented reality, meaning that they can interact with objects in the real world as processed by users' smartphone cameras. Snapchat has only recently announced the feature, but the company has since released videos of Bitmoji doing things like skateboarding on the street, drinking a coffee with their fellow human, and doing yoga on a patio.
Users can activate the Bitmoji on Snapchat in much the same way as filters, scrolling through to them and placing them on the screen. They also have control over the characters' sizes.
