EA Announces Plans to Make its 'Skate' 4 Game Free-To-Play for Everyone

EA recently announced that its ‘Skate 4’ title will be transitioning into a live-service free-to-play game in order to cater to Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Skate 4, which is an award-winning skateboarding video game franchise, follows players as they create a successful skateboarding team by learning tricks and completing challenging game modes. Often regarded as one of the best games of all time, Skate has expressed its dedication to appealing to the two youngest generations by making its franchise free for all.

Many examples of video games that are doing free-to-play extremely well include Fortnite, Apex Legends, Fall Guys, VALORANT, and more. EA hopes that Skate 4 can follow in the footsteps of these iconic titles.

"We continue to see Gen Alpha and Gen Z turning to games as their primary form of entertainment, consuming more content than any generation of the past," CEO Andrew Wilson added. "They love playing with friends. They stay connected with family. And they're creating content at every turn, both in and around their entire gaming experience.
