Axie Infinity: Origin is an Accessible NFT-Tied Web-Based Game

'Sky Mavis,' the developers behind the popular blockchain-based monster collecting game 'Axie Infinity' has unveiled a new free-to-play title called 'Axie Infinity: Origin.' While the original title required new players to mint at least three 'Axie' creatures before they were able to play, the new title foregoes the need for an initial investment. The approximate cost of minting one Axie is $20 USD, meaning the web-based game required a $60 deposit to being playing to earn.

The free-to-play game takes a different route. Users will begin with three Axies that are not tied to an NFT. Then, these users will be able to train their Axies, earn more Axies, and accumulate wealth. Axie Infinity: Origin was originally intended to release in beta testing at the start of April, but this release was delayed by one week due to the large $624 million heist on the original Axie. Despite this, Sky Mavis believes there is a loyal community and a bright future for its blockchain-based games.
