Desolas Mezcal Debuts the Single Barrel Añejo
Desolas Mezcal has introduced a new product — the Single Barrel Añejo — which is distinguished by its use of Salmiana agave and an aging process of thirty-one months in former bourbon casks.
The barrels that the Single Barrel Añejo was aged in were stored in two different locations within a warehouse to create varying microclimates, with each barrel being bottled separately without dilution to a high alcohol proof. The resulting output is limited, yielding just over two hundred bottles from each cask. Desolas Mezcal individually numbered and identified each bottle by its barrel origin. The packaging of the Single Barrel Añejo features a ceramic bottle with a new color scheme.
Desolas Mezcal positions this release as a pioneering effort for both the specific agave type and the single-barrel approach within the mezcal category.
