Artisanal Aged Agave Expressions

The Lost Explorer Boasts the Tequila Reposado Expression

The Lost Explorer — a multi-award-winning House of Agave known for its artisanal mezcal and tequila — has unveiled its first aged agave expression, dubbed Tequila Reposado. Crafted by Maestro Tequilero Enrique de Colsa, this innovation uses a unique multi-cask aging process across three distinct barrel types from France, Spain, and the United States.

The Lost Explorer's Tequila Reposado begins its journey from the same liquid that earned the brand's Tequila Blanco the title of Best in Show Agave Spirit in a blind competition of 173 entries. The expression then rests for four months in a combination of Chateau Rieussec Sauternes wine casks from Bordeaux, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Jerez, and bourbon barrels from Kentucky, with no additives, coloring, or artificial enhancements. The Sauternes casks impart a soft, rounded mouthfeel and honeyed floral notes, the sherry casks add dried fruit and warm spice, and the bourbon barrels provide vanilla, light smoke, and toasted oak structure.
