Community-Built Mindful Pavilions

Geçit is a Simple Pavilion Built Through a Five-day Workshop

Geçit might be a simple pavilion structurally, but its purpose stretches beyond that. The construction is located in Izmir, Turkey. It is the result of a collaborative effort, initiated from a "wood design and construction workshop" that transpired in five days. The project was led by Sebastian Erazo and Stefano Pugliese. It employed students from the faculties of interior architecture and industrial design.

The simple pavilion consists of three elements — a roof, a wall ad a bench. In Turkish, 'Geçit' means a "portal, passage, or gateway." The structure is designed to occupy public spaces and to give individuals the chance to relax, contemplate and embrace an aura of mindfulness.

For the construction of the simple pavilion, the workshop leads and the students utilized pine and reclaimed agriculture mesh fabrics.
