Chinese design studio Temp has created the 3-to-1 Pavilion using charred wood. The structure is defined by its triangular shape that is nestled in a rocky garden with the purpose of forming a tranquil space to enjoy tea and gather together. The 3-to-1 Pavilion boasts a geometric form that has louvered walls that are constructed from wooden frames.
There are 30 charred timber frames in total and each one is set at an angle to elevate heights as it narrows. Temp speaks about the design project to Dezeen, stating "The 3-to-1 Pavilion design is the integration of time, space, and people, with a focus on 'in-between' or interstitial spaces. The pavilion serves as a serene sanctuary for tea drinking, contemplation, and social gatherings in a Shanghai garden setting."
