The Shin-Young An ghostly female faces depicts the unfortunate realities occurring in the world. Her approach, the artist states, is to "find the truth in the human form and to translate that into [her] own vision of natural beauty."
There are so many people who are struggling around the world, and women are a big part of that equation. Many are still fighting for rights and equality, which is quite sad considering that it’s the 21st century.
Shin-Young An wanted to express her emotional grief through visuals, so she took real newspapers depicting current events and layered faint female faces on top of them. These thought-provoking images make the viewer stop and think to reflect on what the future holds.
