Notion Uses Remnants to Create the SHARD Lamp

The SHARD Lamp series by the design company Notion was created during the company’s previous project. That project, the White House in Translation, created “randomized form,” which might make sense to a computer designer, but means very little to me.

The end product is now the SHARD Lamp series, including the main lamp which looks like randomly shaped pieces of material fitted together. In some ways, that’s what it is. While Notion goes to a lot of trouble describing the way in which the SHARD Lamp was created, it doesn’t take a designer to see it could have almost been made by a preschooler with glue.
