When Heng Ri-Liang moved to Singapore, he found it incredibly challenging to find healthy options among the country's carb-heavy options and took it upon himself to create 'Shake Salad.'
Shake Salad sells a variety of prepared salads—packed in airtight containers—out of vending machines that are restocked on a daily basis. Some of the healthy options available include the classic caesar, kale and chopped salads, each of which comes with a complimentary dressing. Customizable options may also be selected, making it possible for consumers to easily choose their preferred toppings on the go via the machine's digital touchscreen.
As Shake Salad works with a perishable food product that has a relatively short shelf life, it uses an algorithm to keep track of expiry dates that identify when the machines should be restocked.
