This Santiago Durieux Series are Nature-Inspired

Barcelona-based illustrator Santiago Durieux recently rendered a slew of character designs that are sure to inspire a few smiles.

The series, titled 'Sea Stars Time,' incorporates, as its name suggests, aspects of the ocean, of time and of the cosmos. Each illustration features one large sphere orbited by two smaller spheres. The large sphere is full of water -- intended to represent the sea -- and portrays some representation of nature or man, while the smaller spheres merely contain water.

Durieux's illustrative style is reminiscent of Japanese kawaii. It is undeniably cute and uses soft shades of pastel colors like blue, pink and yellow to affect levity in the viewer.

From octopuses to mountain peaks, Santiago Durieux illustrations incorporate elemental forces into adorable, lighthearted designs.
