Hello Kitty and Algae are two notions that would not conventionally be paired together but the iconic cartoon from Sanrio has now been transformed into 32 different algae-inspired outfits. This is all a part of a new exhibit for Expo 2025 at Japan's National Museum of Nature and Science.
The Japan Pavilion sections off into three distinct topics -- Plat, Farm, and Factory. When it is all fused together, the spaces come together as the JUNKAN cycle of life, which is a deeply rooted concept in Japanese culture. It brings attention to the connection of all living things and how it is important to live sustainably to nourish this. These looks are showcased in the Farm sections where Hello Kitty is wearing various greens and imaginative looks.
