Alternative and unique vending machines are becoming the norm, and this Sanden vending machine is definitely one of the most innovative. This concept vending machine created in collaboration with Intel and Okaya Electronics features a special facial recognition technology to decipher just who is buying items from the machine to provide suggested products and information accordingly.
With a full HD transparent touchscreen display, the Sanden vending machine performs what the company refers to as "anonymous face recognition" -- an anonymous video analysis determines the buyer's attributes (male, female, young, old) so that advertising content and product suggestions can be tailored to the customer's demographic. When a customer is not present, the Sanden vending machine will display animation or a giant digital clock. Users can even access evacuation routes in the building in case of emergency.
As Mayumi Moribayashi of Okaya Electronics says in this video, the Sanden vending machine has many possibilities, including selling high-end goods like cosmetics and liquor. She states, "It has a great many possibilities, so we'd like to get ideas from everyone, rather than just using it as a regular vending machine."
