The Mercedes-Benz Safe Parking App Utilizes Open Police Reports

In an effort to provide better parking options for its customers, Mercedes-Benz is now developing a safe parking app to ensure drivers don't come back to a stolen vehicle or broken window. To ensure safe parking, the app-based technology consults data from open police records to analyze the number of specific crimes reported in any given area. These crimes aren't limited to just vehicle-related offenses and will also include violent offenses, such as assault, as well as vandalism and property damage.

The functionality of the safe parking app is still in development, but it has been hinted that the app will only be available to motorists through the Mercedes app store. The app is already being tested to some extent in the Seattle area with Mercedes taking "open data from the city of Seattle" and comparing it to parking spaces in a target location.
