Salvaged Wood Sculptures

Ron van der Ende's 'A Shallow Wade' Art Explores American Ideas

If I were to look at the same piece of discarded wood as Ron van der Ende did, I'm sure I would have either completely disregarded it or thought about making a fire with it. Instead, this Rotterdam-based, Dutch artist has created an entire sculpture collection made out of salvaged wood.

Entitled 'A Shallow Wade,' Ron van der Ende explores "fractured American consciousness." CoolHunting.com featured the 'Shotgun Shack Row' piece that depicts New Orleans' Ninth Ward, which was hit by Katrina.
