Respiration Control Packaging Films

This Recyclable Film Packaging from Innovia Films is Effective

This new Innovia Films recyclable film packaging has been announced by the brand as part of its initiative towards enhanced sustainability within the market. The P2G film is a high gas transmission biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film that is engineered with the flow-wrap packaging requirements of fresh produce and pre-prepared vegetables in mind. The film connects high-speed industrial performance with the recycling standards that are slated to roll out through the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

Senior Product Manager Megan Hinkley commented on the Innovia Films P2G recyclable film packaging saying, "P2G represents the next generation of fresh produce packaging. It combines functionality, reliability, and sustainability to meet the evolving needs of retailers and packers while supporting the transition to circular packaging.”

Respiration-control Packaging
A packaging approach that tailors gas transmission to produce respiration, enabling extended shelf life and reduced food waste through material-level control.
Circular Flexible Films
Monomaterial recyclable BOPP films designed for circularity create opportunities to redesign supply chains around reusable feedstocks and simplified end-of-life sorting.
High-speed Recyclable Packaging
Materials that maintain industrial flow-wrap performance while meeting regulatory recycling standards open pathways for scaleable sustainable packaging across automated packing lines.

Industries Being Reshaped

Fresh Produce Supply Chain
Extended shelf-life films can shift inventory models and reduce spoilage costs by allowing longer distribution windows and broader market reach.
Retail Packaging Equipment Manufacturers
Equipment vendors are presented with the need for machines that handle recyclable monomaterials at high speeds, prompting redesigns of sealing and handling systems.
Recycling and Waste Management
Simpler material streams from monomaterial films could change sorting economics and enable higher-value recyclate markets for flexible plastics.
