Rebekah Marine is a Fashion Model with a High-Tech Prosthetic Limb

— September 5, 2015 — Social Good
Rebekah Marine was told that she would never have a modeling career because of her prosthetic. Now she's walking in New York Fashion Week.

The 28-year-old model wears an i-limb quantum hand, one of the most advanced gesture-controlled prosthetic limbs on the market. The high-tech hand is made by Touch Bionics, for whom Rebekah Marine is a brand ambassador. Marine has harnessed her unique look and used it to her advantage, landing a spot in the FTL Moda Fashion Week show as well as this year's Nordstrom catalog.

This year's FTL Moda runway is showcasing diversity -- Madeline Stuart, an 18-year-old model with Down syndrome, will also be walking for the label. It's a new age of inclusion, and fashion is moving away from the exclusionary policies it has held for so long.
