Raquel Paiewonsky is an artist from the Dominican Republic that has been shocking many with her latest “Mutant” art installation in the Latin American Pavilion at the Biennale.

The exhibit features many deformed and disfigured toys that are multi-legged, stretched out or fused together into freaky figures.

Gorgeously terrifying.

Implications - New ideas are hard to come by, so why not take the original and transform it to the point that it's unique? Eventually mundane objects become boring, but once it's manipulated, something new and interesting comes to life. Even if the change is as subtle as changing a flavor of a drink or adding spikes to a shoe, it's evident that consumers are always looking for something new and exciting.
