Bianca Censori’s Bio Pop Sees Contortionist Bodies into Sculptural Forms

— December 15, 2025 — Art & Design
Bianca Censori’s BIO POP furniture was unveiled as part of her performance art project in Seoul, where sculptural pieces integrate contorted human forms into functional-appearing seating and domestic objects. Chairs, tables, and similar forms incorporate performers positioned within or against the structures, with limbs and torsos becoming visible components of the furniture surfaces. The pieces are designed with padded frames, shearling upholstery, and brushed-metal elements to support the contortionist figures and maintain a cohesive material aesthetic.

The furniture works were shown alongside a live performance sequence in which Censori interacted with the pieces in staged scenes that referenced domestic activity. The designs use human bodies as integral structural elements, with performers arranged such that limbs or torsos support surfaces or act as armrests and backrests. Pieces vary in scale and form, with some resembling traditional tables and others functioning as seating. The exhibition context situates the furniture within a broader performance art narrative staged over multiple days at the event.
