Atelier Sérgio Rebelo Completes the Quinta De Adorigo Winery

Atelier Sérgio Rebelo has designed the Quinta de Adorigo Winery in Portugal's Alto Douro Vinhateiro, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This project masterfully interprets the region's iconic terraced landscape while advancing sustainable construction and wine tourism.

The Quinta de Adorigo Winery is a 1,100-square-meter facility and part of a larger family-run development that includes a hotel still under construction. The project is defined by its horizontal curvilinear forms that echo the zigzagging patterns of vineyards cascading down the surrounding hills and valleys. The building's configuration is not merely an aesthetic gesture but a direct reflection of its internal mechanics, as the downward movement across the terraced land facilitates a gravity-fed winemaking process — a time-honored tradition along the Douro River that is demonstrated here with contemporary operational efficiency.
