Yamaha is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its electric bicycle drive unit debut with the release of the all-new 'PW-Series C2.' This drive unit carries with it the 30 years of experience in engineering efficiency that the company acquired over the years. Yamaha, over the years, has ventured into launching its own full-scale e-bike models, as well as supplying specific components, such as drive units, to other established e-bike manufacturers and retailers.
The PW-Series C2 is a 250-watt unit that outputs 41 lb-ft of torque to it's e-bike. While this is not an ultra-powerful unit, it is a very efficient one, weighing only 6.6 lbs. This means the PW-Series C2 is an excellent addition to modest commuter bikes and city commuters, as it does not add too much payload, and is still powerful enough to achieve a support speed of 15.5 mph. Additionally, the drive unit improves on its predecessor, with a rough 10% increase in performance over the previous iteration.
