The latest releases from Port Askaig have been debuted by the distillery as a total of three expressions that build on the brand's heritage and expertise when it comes to peat-smoked whiskeys. The spirits include two age-states expressions including 15 and 25-year-old options alongside a non-age statement cask-strength single malt, which are each meant to complement the existing offerings from the brand. The Cask Strength #02-2024 expression is bottled at a 59.1% ABV, while the 15-year-old single malt comes in at 50.5% ABV and the 25-year-old is at a 45.8% ABV.
Master Blender at Elixir Distillers Oliver Chilton spoke on the latest releases from Port Askaig saying, "Port Askaig has always been our home to showcase the elegance of fruit-driven, smoky whisky. With this year’s releases, a wonderfully soft style was chosen for our 15-year-old, a result of using refill wood, where oxygen developed more herbal notes alongside the lemon and smoke. For Cask Strength, we leaned into our casking programme, balancing peat with the richness of sherry casks for this ultimate expression of rich, fruity smoke.”
