Intensely Peaty Scotch Whiskeys

Laphroaig Elements 3.0 Has Notes of Chocolate and Burnt Caramel

The Laphroaig Elements 3.0 single malt Scotch whiskey has been added to the distillery's namesake Elements series as the perfect option for discerning drinkers to try out this spring. The spirit is reported to have an unexpected flavor profile that's achieved thanks to a kiln fire burning longer and hotter than usual, which resulted in the whiskey having tasting notes of chocolate and burnt caramel. The expression comes in with a 55.3% ABV with aromatic notes of charcoal, chocolate and spice with deep, smoldering notes of peat and a final layer of maritime brine.

Distillery Manager George Campbell commented on the Laphroaig Elements 3.0 single malt Scotch whiskey saying, "Our Elements Series focuses on pushing the boundaries of traditional whisky making while retaining the distinctive character that defines Laphroaig. The period of unexpectedly hot kiln smoking presented a unique opportunity to explore how such an event could influence the flavour of Islay’s iconic dram. Elements 3.0 adds an exciting new twist to our multi-award-winning range, and I’m eager to hear what our friends think of this latest addition.”
