Record-Based Alphabet Art

This Typography Series Draws Inspiration From Popular Vinyl Records

Rome-based illustrator and graphic designer Priscilla Fois Missk set out to recreate the alphabet by using popular vinyl records. While digital music is far more convenient than physical records, virtual tunes lack the aesthetic appeal of cover art. Missk rediscovers this iconic artwork and uses the covers to recreate each letter of the alphabet.

Missk's 'Vinyls Alphabet' uses colorful and uniform backgrounds to display her typography. She then incorporates a different record into the shape of each letter in the alphabet. She thus reinterprets both the album and the letter at the same time. The result is a whimsical alphabet made up of a gallery of popular vinyl records. Some of the artists featured in the typography include The Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, Patti Smith and The Strokes.
