This Pop Art ad from Nivea adopts a charming vintage feel and quite cleverly promotes one of its exfoliating face scrubs.
One of the most characteristics parts of pop art illustrations are the use of Ben-Day dots, that give coloring and shading to the otherwise flat art. The use of Ben-Day dots simulate the printing process used in comic books, which gives illustrations a bold, graphic punch. This works quite well for this ad, especially since it can get its message across without the help of any text.
The Nivea ad uses dots on every surface possible — except for the clear and very smooth face of the female, who has clearly been using a Nivea exfoliant to stay absolutely dot-free.
