Toyota has unveiled a brand new plug-in Prius at the New York Auto Show to showcase the second generation technologies associated with this line of hybrid vehicles.
Launched at the New York Auto Show, the Prius Prime offers a clear improvement over the first-generation plug-in Prius, which was only capable of handling 20 kilometers on an ell-electric mode. This new vehicle is powered by an 8.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that allows it to function to up to 50 km in all-electric mode. The boosted range is accompanied by significantly improved fuel economy numbers of 1.4 liters per 100 km, and emission rates of only 32 grams per kilometer.
Ultimately, the latest plug-in Prius shows that eco-friendly emissions numbers can be attained without compromising on performance and handling.
