The Very Good Food Co. relaunched its line of plant-based cheese under a new brand called The Very Good Cheese Co. and it shares five new cheese alternatives inspired by popular styles. There are two cheddar flavors, a dill and Havarti style cheese, smoked gouda and pepper jack, all of which are made with fermented cashews.
As the demand for plant-based products increases, it's expected that interest in vegan cheese alternatives will also continue to rise. Increased concerns about animal welfare, sustainability and health are driving consumers, many of which are Millennials, to invest in alternatives that are free from lactose and dairy. These cultured cashew cheeses have the potential to be enjoyed by the slice or in many different ways.
