Pharrell Williams' G I R L exhibition, hosted at Galerie Perrotin's newest space, the Salle de Bal, is the latest tactic to promote his album of the same name. The album -- Pharrell's second solo effort -- first gained recognition with its lead single 'Happy,' which was also featured on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack.
The collection features 48 pieces, 12 of which were produced specifically for the show. Among the artists featured are Daniel Arsham, Marina Abramovic, KAWS, Alex Katz, Yoko Ono, Terry Richardson and Andy Warhol.
According to the event's press release, "This selection of artists close to
the gallery and the musician form a kind of operatic opus, where muses
have come together to pay tribute to femininity through the vision of 37
artists / including 18 women."
