Peace Coffee is a Minneapolis-based fair trade and organic coffee company that has been providing high quality, responsibly sourced java to the Twin Cities since 1996, before fair trade certification in the US.
According to their website, the "story goes" that Peace Coffee was born in a conversation between their parent company, the local non-profit, the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, and a group of Mexican farmers.
Eventually, Peace Coffee co-founded Cooperative Coffees, an importing co-op that now comprises 23 community-based coffee roasters in the US and Canada. Peace Coffee's completes its supply chain with their baristas at the first cafe, Peace Coffee Shop Wonderland Park.
