There is something wild and psychedelic about this colorful parrot photo series. Drenched with paint and neon colors, these parrot portraits were captured by Italian photographer Simone Bergantini.
To create these unique parrot images in the 'La Compagnia dei Pappagalli' series, the photographer fuses painting and photography together. The first step Bergantini takes to make this parrot photo series come to life is photographing them using a large format camera with positive film. He then uses the analog images of the parrots and paints on them with watercolors of every color imaginable to create the psychedelia-meets-nature look.
The photographer states that he was inspired by the concept of mass communication and how images tend to lose and retain meanings. Bergantini says his series is “floating without destination in a huge galaxy with no reference points.”
