Expansion of Paris’ Grand Palais Will Revive the Classic Buildi

The competition for the proposed restructuring and expansion of Paris’ Grand Palais has been a long nine month process, but it has finally been announced that LAN Architecture will be responsible for the project.

The building itself is both a symbol of modernity as well as one that holds strong historical significance as the progressive 1900 World’s Fair building. Originally, it served as a site to show off art and culture in France, but the initial plans were flexible enough to serve multiple purposes in the future.

LAN Architecture’s winning design will introduce new circulation paths, a new entrance court as well as "restore the building’s original coherence and sense of transparency," as LAN describes.
