Renovated Museum Exhibition Wings

Kengo Kuma Adds a New Building to the Musée Albert Kahn

Japan-based architectural firm Kengo Kuma has an office in Paris and now it renovated an old museum building by adding an exhibition wing at the Musée Albert Kahn. The new look is meant to connect to the museum's collection with intricate gardens that were opened by Kahn back in 1937, showcasing landscape features from five different continents.

The overall goal was to replicate the look of the endawa, which is a vernanda-style space that is true to typical traditional Japanese architecture. The building if framed by this design language to create an artful barrier between the indoors and outdoors. The studio states, "The dream of Albert Kahn of blending the garden and display space was achieved by blending the environment and architecture."
