Renovated Lakeside French Villas

Atelier Archiplein Refurbishes La Villa in Annecy, France

Swiss architecture firm Atelier Archiplain has refurnished and added more components to La Villa home in Annecy, France. The home had dated interiors and got a brand new refresh since it was built in the 60s. The team refurbished all three floors of the home, completing an extension at the front and rear sections. Throughout the design, green tones including awnings and railings were repeated.

The co-founder of the studio, Marlène Leroux shared with Dezeen, "Dating back to the 1960s, the existing house consisted of small, independent, and single-purpose rooms. The project aims to break apart this spatial configuration, which no longer aligns with contemporary uses, by making the entire space available as a communal area. This required extensive structural work, an aspect of the intervention that became a theme in its own right. Thus, the structure of the building is made visible in the interiors, left raw and expressed through a series of parallel piers."
