The 1960s villa Castelli Romani renovation introduces clean design in historic structure by reworking a mid-century residence located on Italy’s Castelli Romani hills through tabular volumes, large glazing and minimal finishes. StudioTamat retained the original concrete frame and timber roof structure but stripped back interior partitions to open views across the vineyard landscape. The exterior replaces dated cladding with slender steel frames and full-height sliding glass doors that extend living spaces to the terraces while preserving the house’s silhouette. Inside, white walls and polished concrete floors accentuate spatial continuity and daylight flow throughout the layout.
Landscape and architecture now link directly, as the gardens are shaped to mirror the structural grid while creating strong indoor-outdoor orientation. The project emphasises adaptability and clarity of construction rather than stylistic revival, shaping a residence that responds to its setting with understated precision.
