Renovated Multi-Gen Homes

The N°7 Bretscha House Adapts a 1960s Residence for Three Generations

The N°7 Bretscha House in Schaan, Liechtenstein, reimagines a 1960s single family home into a layered dwelling for three generations. Originally hidden behind neighboring industrial and office buildings, the structure now unfolds through subtle yet strategic transformations. A covered terrace added in the late 1990s expanded its footprint while preserving character. The garden level flat remains largely unchanged except for subtle color accents and updated pipework. Above, the bedrooms were maintained but refined with careful architectural interventions.

A former attic space has been replaced with an open plan living area, flooded with natural light through precisely placed windows. This layout establishes a visual dialogue between the garden’s towering tree and the distant Dreischwestern mountain range. Spread across 182 square meters, the renovation balances continuity and reinvention, preserving historical roots while introducing contemporary spatial clarity and functional adaptability.
