At first glance, these images may seem more like computer-generated illustrations when in fact, they are are intricate paper collages.
These meticulously handcrafted paper collages are made by British artist Lucy Williams and depict deserted mid-20th century architecture. Williams' work typically starts by creating a detailed drawing before cutting out shapes from a variety of materials. Williams typically opts for paper or cardboard, which she then cuts into into small sizes before piecing together the entire image.
The resulting paper collages end up looking extremely lifelike and realistic yet have a certain, graphic aesthetic that suggests the pieces are not photographs. Williams' methodology is extremely detailed and often features 3D effects that gives these collages an even more surreal perception.
