Molten Memories is a uniquely designed rug with sustainability at its core. Sarah Roseman, the project's designer, created the rug installation out of reclaimed textiles. The upcycled rug boasts a collage-like design. Its various materials are fused into a textured and mosaic pattern.
Roseman collected the materials from home renovations and demolitions in Eindhoven in The Netherlands. The Molten Memories rug collage features discarded carpets repurposed as yarn, tufted into various shapes. The rug also includes laminate wood to create organic islands in the design, while broken tiles were smoothed to form river rocks. Each piece is fused together to create an abstracted river bed image. Roseman shows that discarded items can transform artfully-designed items.
