GM's 'OnStar Go' System will Incorporate IBM's Watson

General Motors has offered its OnStar system for years, but the new version of the vehicle assistance program, OnStar Go, is set to revolutionize GM's driving experience. Dubbed the first ever "cognitive mobility platform," OnStar Go uses IBM's Watson supercomputer to let drivers connect and interact with the surrounding environment as they pass through it.

In terms of hardware, the OnStar Go platform includes little more than a touchscreen dashboard interface. The heart of the system is its software, which will use intelligent analysis from Watson to respond to the driver's requests and deliver personalized content.

One of the most impressive things about OnStar Go will be its ability to connect to the internet and recognize nearby businesses. For instance, the system could automatically point out the nearest gas station when the car is running low or mark a coffee shop during an early morning drive.
