The Oberholz Mountain Hut is a modern take on the traditional ski chalet. Built more than 2,000 meters up in the Italian Dolomites, the cantilevered structure features an artful combination of gables and curvilinearity with wood and concrete, referencing the past while looking forward to the future.
Inspired by the form of a fallen tree, Oberholz Mountain Hut has three cantilevered volumes that each curve away from the central "trunk" of the building at random angles. The outermost walls of these volumes are made from floor-to-ceiling glass, giving those inside a stunning view of the Dolomites in every direction.
In terms of amenities, Oberholz Mountain Hut is a ski in/ski out lodge. It features both indoor and outdoor dining areas, giving those stopping through the building multiple options depending on the weather.
