Nina Mûr's Sunglasses Were Inspired by the Memphis Group

The Spanish eye brand Nina Mûr collaborated with Abet Laminati to produce a collection of vibrant wooden sunglasses, inspired by the acclaimed architect Ettore Sottsass.

The collection was inspired by the Italian artist collective, The Memphis Group and features designs and patterns that were founded and popularized by the group in the 1980s. The glasses combine different geometric shapes, with a diverse array of materials and a vibrant color palette, to produce a line which is reminiscent of the collective's artistic work. The collection was made from birch leaves sourced from Finland, cut using "algorithmic technology" and hand-painted.

The sunglass line, titled "Nina Mûr Goes to Memphis" was designed to coincide with Ettore Sottsass' 100th birthday.
